Fine original jewellery

Who doesn’t love gemstones, they have a unique beauty to them that is raw, and meaningful. Gai has been cutting and polishing stones since she owned and ran a Sapphire Mine in the Central Queensland town of Sapphire, near the mining town of Emerald. Later she moved to the Gold Coast to set precious stones until becoming sick of the rat race and wanting to get back out and find her own minerals in the Outback of Queensland, an area rich in gemstones. Joined by partner Eric and guard dog Mack, they often make expeditions out to the gem fields to find new rocks to make jewellery.

Australia is well known for its minerals from Gold, Cobalt, Silica, Copper, Opal and even Uranium, many of these minerals leach into rock and give the rocks unique colours and textures. These rocks over the years become hardened stones that we call gemstones. Gemstones are semi-precious minerals that have a value in their own right. They go by the names of jade, cat’s eye, amethyst, aquamarine, and topaz just to name a few. In their raw state they just look like common stones, but when cut and polished by a professional, they become sought after for jewellery.

The beauty of having a specialist jewellery-maker like Gai selling her own product is she can custom fit or make the jewellery to your specific desires and needs. She’s also a valuable resource of information on the rocks and the manufacturing process.
