The Artist – Denis McMahon

Denis McMahon is a wood working artisan who mixes wood sculpture with contemporary product pieces to create unique products. As a member of the Bowen Woodies, wood turning group, he works alongside fellow artisan John Schultz to explore the use of unique Australian timber in useful and beautiful products. Whereas John Schultz explores the use of timber in contemporary design, Denis uses engineering techniques such as thread chasing to create screw tops, a technique that took him three years to perfect.

Art Work

Denis includes functional art work such as pens, pencils, bowls, canes and clocks. His work is all original. While he displays much of his work at the Sunday markets, he can also create specialist objects to your design and is more than happy to discuss your specific needs.
