The beauty of art is often the artist’s unique juxtaposition created by the overlay of modern techniques on traditional materials or methods. Brett Crocker is one such artisan that blends the traditional wood working techniques with modern laser engraving to create a unique product specific to tropical Queensland.
The artist
Brett started his small business playing with a small hand sized laser engraver after he left the corporate world. Like so many artists, his passion was creativity rather than the corporate rat race. Combining his passion for wood working with his interest in technology, he created a unique product that was a juxtaposition of the two interests.
The products
There are three aspects blended into Brett’s creations, form, function and design. His products are not only functional, but have an artistic flair. The laser designs depict tropical and marine settings, the wood working using timber suitable for cutting boards and the finish means that as works of art they are equally at home in a display, which can be admired for years as a memento of life in the Whitsundays.
